The National Institutes of Health estimates that nearly twenty-four million* Americans have an autoimmune disease. Others estimate as high as fifty million people suffer from autoimmune symptoms. That’s about 20 percent of the population struggling with an autoimmune disorder.
That’s one in five people.
To put that in perspective, in 2016, there were an estimated 15.5 million cancer survivors in the United States.
There are over 80 conditions that people are suffering from every day that compromise their immune systems and if it’s not one of the “big ones” like rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, lupus or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis you might be told it’s all in your head….

*The difference in the NIH numbers and other estimates are that the NIH only include 24 diseases for which good epidemiology studies were available. Recent research estimates that there are over 80+ autoimmune disorders with more classified and defined yearly raising the total closer to 50 million.
