Suffering is Optional: Learning to Be With and Talk About Change, Transitions, and Grief

Listen to “Suffering is Optional: Learning to Be With and Talk About Change, Transitions, and Grief” on Spreaker.

This week’s guest Yvonne Heath is passionate about “supporting the supporters” and “building Compassionate Communities.” Yvonne, a registered nurse since 1988 in emergency, chemotherapy, palliative care, and hospice, has developed a unique view of how to talk about and walk through challenging transitions and grief.
With her remarkable history, Yvonne decided in 2015 to blaze a new trail and founded ‘Love Your Life to Death,’ followed by the ‘I Just Showed Up Movement.’ In 2019, she delivered her TEDx Talk, “Transforming Our Grief by Just Showing Up. And, as a consultant, speaker, author, trainer, and television host, Yvonne shares her message of how to “talk about, plan, and prepare for grief, transitions, and end of life.”

In addition to her crucial message of how to talk about your grief and her “Just Show Up Movement,” Yvonne shares with us -

• Examples of tough talks when you are tongue-tied during times of change,
• How to find closure and ways to hold your boundaries
• How to assert yourself when others think ‘they know best’
• How to build “Compassionate Communities”
• What is the difference between grief and mourning, plus so much more…
More About Our Guest: Yvonne Heath continues to break the mold as she shares her message about grief and how to do it differently. She shares with compassion and hard-earned wisdom that we all face suffering and sorrow, such as a scary diagnosis, a global pandemic, divorce, financial stress, bullying, mental health issues, and yes, end of life. It’s all grief!

About Your Host, Sharon Sayler

Your host, Sharon Sayler is a certified executive and wellness coach, communications trainer, public speaker, best selling author, and the founder of Competitive Edge Communications who specializes in teaching professionals critical nonverbal and body language skills including how to have those critical “tough” conversations. She teaches how to up-your-impact on the stage, in the boardroom, with clients, customers, team members and even how to deal with difficult people.

Now, she's taken those skills, her passion for clear and competent communication, her own experience dealing with a rare medical condition and her frustration with the medical community in understanding what it is like to have a chronic and complicated medical condition to teach others to become courageous self-advocates so they too can turn life transitions into triumphs. One way she spreads the word is through the podcast and videocast called The Autoimmune Show: Inspiring hope and help for those with autoimmune.
