Redesigning Your Destiny After the Diagnosis: Expectations, Identity, and Your Healing

Redesigning Your Destiny After the Diagnosis: Expectations, Identity, and Your Healing

The Autoimmune Hour welcomes award-winning leadership expert and #1 international best-selling author, Lisa Marie Platske from Upside Thinking and Design Your Destiny where she creates high-performing leaders. Now, you might be asking, ‘Sharon, what does that have to do with wellness?” My answer is “A LOT!”

Lisa Marie shares in this transparent and open conversation, how a sudden change like a diagnosis can cause you to question everything in your world and what to do about it, like ~

• How to change the ‘mind-tape’ of doom and gloom towards healing and hope
• How old patterns and other things your mind creates may no longer be of service.
• The difference between giving yourself space and spaciousness and why both are important.
• Knowing the value of ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and how to deal with your own and others expectations.

Plus so much more….

Lisa Marie Platske is the founder of the annual Design Your Destiny Live 3-day leadership conference, uses her Federal law enforcement journey before and after 9/11 to demonstrate what exceptional leaders do differently, sharing how vulnerability in leadership is critical to being a leader worth following. She is a member of the Forbes Coaches Council and serves on the executive board of Project Forgive as well as the executive advisory council for Leadership California. Positive Thoughts

This episode’s guest is Lisa Marie Platske and they talk about stress, understanding boundaries as well as the value of your “yes” and the value of your “no.”

Sharon begins by asking about what Lisa Marie sees with all the leaders she work with around the world and how we put more stress on ourselves than we need to.

Lisa Marie discusses the self-imposed deadlines and expectations that we create for ourselves and that she believes in giving herself the gift of self-care and spaciousness so that she could give the best of herself.

0:06:25.8 With so many self-imposed expectations like “I should be doing that and I should be doing that,” Sharon asks Lisa Marie for suggestions on how to change the tape of living up to someone’s expectations that we keep playing in our head to which she said that the voice that should matter most is your own voice.

0:11:04.1 She talks about her Designing Your Destiny book and the three questions that she asks: Who are you? What do you want? Why does it matter?

Sharon says that regardless of our diagnosis and life situation, it’s really important that we get clear on who we are and why we’re here.

0:16:49.2 It is also important to shift from “Do I matter?” to “Why does it matter?” because there’s absolutely an “it” that propels us in making a difference in the world and that the size or the placement of that “it” doesn’t matter as long as it’s important to you.

As Sharon says, “Don’t let anyone judge you out of your ‘it.’ Define your ‘it’ and go for it.”

0:23:49.4 At this point, they talk about the importance of the “yeses” and “no’s,” the consequences of the “yeses” and the “no’s,” setting boundaries even with people who are very close to us and that every time you say “yes” to something, you simultaneously say “no” to something else. And so, knowing, understanding, and recognizing your non-negotiables is very important.

0:46:37.0 With just a few minutes left, Lisa Marie lets us know how we can find more about her, her books, and the work that she does.
